NTA Message for the Week of January 25, 2021

Good afternoon NTA family,

Thank you for being patient as we plan for your child’s learning preference for school reopening beginning February 1st. We have designed our plan with the safety of our students, teachers, and school community as our highest priority.

As a school that values student/teacher relationships, we stayed committed to keeping classes together, with teachers who know our students best and are experts in their content area. As always, please reach out if you have any questions or concerns, and/or be sure to attend our reopening meeting on Wednesday, January 27 (more information below).

Below is an overview of reopening resources and our instructional model.

I'm wishing you a restful, joyful weekend, family!

Reopening Resources for Families
  • NTA's Reopening Plan, including student pod assignments for students who will be returning on February 1, is attached here
  • Reopening video presentation is here
  • The Reopening presentation slides from the video are attached below.

Overview of NTA's instructional model:
  • For families who have selected remote learning, students will continue to learn from the same teacher and in the same homeroom. Students will continue to engage in  synchronous instruction led by teachers and asynchronous instruction, including web-based proactive, small group instruction, or independent tasks.

  • For families who have selected hybrid learning, students will continue to learn from the same teacher and in the same homeroom. Students will attend school in-person for two days and learn remotely for three days. Daily class schedules will be forthcoming from grade level teams.

  • On Wednesday, all students will learn remotely, receiving 180 minutes of direct instruction in the morning and then working independently in the afternoon. During independent work time, teachers will not be directly available to support learning. Grade level schedules will be forthcoming from grade level teams.

  • Students participating in hybrid learning will remain in current homerooms, but will be divided into two pods: Pod A (Mon-Tues) and Pod B (Th-Fri). Pod rosters and student pod assignments are provided at the end of the attached reopening plan document.

  • CPS has not yet reviewed all telework requests, so we cannot yet share which teachers will return in-person and which will be teaching remotely. We expect to share more with families next week.
